Recording and managing quantity on hand at each storage location
The Inventory Balance view shows the quantity on hand for each part at each storage location (BIN). Each record ties a part number to a specific BIN location and stores the current quantity.
Inventory Balance is accessible from the SavantPLM sidebar under Inventory → Inventory Balance. Editors can add, edit, and delete balance records. Viewers can see the list but cannot make changes.
Balance records are stored at the BIN level only. You must have at least one BIN location set up before you can add inventory. See Inventory Locations for setup instructions.
Each part + location combination must be unique. You cannot have two balance records for the same PN at the same BIN. To add more stock at the same location, edit the existing record's quantity instead.
Click the Edit button on any balance row to update the quantity on hand. Enter the new quantity and click Save.
Editing the quantity automatically logs an ADJUSTMENT transaction capturing the before and after quantities. See Automatic Transaction Logging below.
Click the Delete button on any balance row to remove that record. A confirmation prompt will appear before deletion.
If the record has a non-zero quantity at the time of deletion, an ADJUSTMENT transaction is automatically logged to record the removal.
The Inventory Balance view supports several filters to help you find records quickly:
Use the Clear button to reset all filters and show all records.
When you search for a part number, Where it is stored shows a 3D view of the warehouse with the part's rooms and bins highlighted. Click a row to show that bin in blue. See Warehouse Builder.
Every time a balance record is added, edited, or deleted, SavantPLM automatically logs an ADJUSTMENT inventory transaction. This gives you a complete audit trail of how quantities changed over time.
You can view these transactions in Inventory History.
