📋 Inventory History

Viewing and creating inventory transactions

Overview

The Inventory History view shows a complete log of all inventory movements for your workspace — every receipt, shipment, move, adjustment, scrap, and customer return is recorded as a transaction.

It is accessible from the SavantPLM sidebar under Inventory → Inventory History (or Inventory Transactions on Enterprise plans).

Subscription Tiers

Access to this view depends on your subscription plan:

Plan View History Create Transactions Sidebar Label
Plans with Inventory History ✓ Yes ✕ No Inventory History
Enterprise (Advanced Inventory) ✓ Yes ✓ Yes Inventory Transactions

If your plan includes Inventory History but not Advanced Inventory, you can view the full transaction log but the + New Transaction button will not appear. Upgrade to Enterprise to create transactions manually.

Transaction Types

Each transaction has a Command Type that describes what kind of operation it represents:

Each transaction also has a Transaction Type — either RECEIVE (inventory coming in, positive quantity change) or ISSUE (inventory going out, negative quantity change).

Viewing Transaction History

The transaction list shows the most recent 500 transactions for your workspace, newest first. Use the filters at the top to narrow the list:

Click Search to apply filters or Clear to reset.

Each row shows the command ID, command type, part number, transaction type, quantity before/change/after, locations, user, vendor or customer, and timestamp.

Creating Transactions (Enterprise)

Enterprise plan users with the Editor role can create new transactions using the + New Transaction button. Click the button to open a dropdown menu and select the transaction type:

Creating a transaction directly updates the Inventory Balance for the affected part and location. Always double-check the part number, location, and quantity before submitting.

Each transaction form requires a Part Number and Quantity. When you enter a PN, the form looks up the part's unit of measure automatically. Most forms also require a To Location or From Location (a BIN-level storage location).

Automatically Logged Transactions

Not all transactions are created manually. SavantPLM automatically logs ADJUSTMENT transactions whenever a balance record is added, edited, or deleted from the Inventory Balance view. This ensures a complete audit trail even when users are managing balances directly rather than through formal transaction workflows.
