Finding which assemblies or parts use a specific part or raw material
Where Used is accessible from the SavantPLM sidebar. Enter a part number and click Search to see every place that part appears across your workspace. It has two modes — Standard and Raw Material — selectable from the toggle at the top of the page.
Standard mode answers the question: "Which BOMs contain this part number?"
Enter a part number and click Search. The results show every parent assembly whose BOM includes the searched part, along with the quantity used and the find number (position in the BOM).
Standard mode only shows direct parents — the assemblies that directly include this part in their BOM. It does not traverse multiple levels upward. To trace a part all the way up the assembly tree, follow each parent assembly through successive Where Used searches.
Raw Material mode answers the question: "Which parts are assigned this raw material?"
Enter a raw material part number and click Search. The results show every part that has this PN assigned as its raw material (via the Raw Material assignment in the Part View Cost tab).
This is useful when a raw material changes — for example, a new alloy or gauge — so you can quickly find all the parts that reference it and update them accordingly.
Results are displayed in a table. Click any part number in the results to open it in the Part View.
If no results are found, the part either does not appear in any BOM (Standard mode) or has no parts assigned to it as a raw material (Raw Material mode).
