Managing your vendor list in SavantPLM

Overview

The Vendors list is accessible from the SavantPLM sidebar. It is a shared directory of supplier companies your workspace works with. Vendors can be assigned to parts in the Part View (Sourcing tab) to track where each part is purchased from.

Viewers can search and browse the vendor list. Editors can add, edit, and delete vendors.

Vendor Fields

FieldDescription
Vendor NameThe name of the supplier company. Required.
ContactThe name of your primary contact at this vendor.
PhonePhone number for the vendor or contact.
EmailEmail address for the vendor or contact. Displayed as a clickable mailto link.
WebsiteThe vendor's website URL. Displayed as a clickable link that opens in a new tab.
NotesFree-form notes about this vendor — lead times, account numbers, terms, etc.

Searching Vendors

Use the Search vendor name... field in the top bar to filter the vendor list by name. The search is case-insensitive and matches any part of the vendor name. Click Clear to return to the full list.

Adding a Vendor

  1. Click the lock LOCKED button to unlock the add form.
  2. Enter the Vendor Name (required) and any optional fields: Contact, Phone, Email, Website, Notes.
  3. Click + Add Vendor.

Only Editors can add vendors. The add form is hidden from Viewers.

Editing a Vendor

Click the pencil icon (✎) in the Edit column of any vendor row to expand an inline edit form. Update the fields as needed and click Save, or click Cancel to discard changes.

Deleting a Vendor

Click the Delete button on any vendor row to remove it. A confirmation prompt will appear before deletion.

Vendors on a Part

In the Part View, the Sourcing tab allows you to assign a vendor to a part along with a vendor part number and unit cost. Vendors must be added to the Vendors list before they can be selected on a part.
