Organizing parts, changes, and prototypes by product configuration
Product Models represent distinct product configurations or product lines in your workspace — for example, different SKUs, trim levels, or variants of a product family. Each model can be linked to a top-level part number so that part details, drawings, and files are one click away.
Models act as a cross-reference hub. ECRs, ECOs, and Engineering Prototype Requests (EPRs) can be tagged with one or more model names, and the Model detail view collects all of those linked records in one place for quick visibility into what is changing or being built for each product.
The Models list is accessible from the SavantPLM sidebar under Models. It displays all models defined in your workspace in a table with counts of associated ECRs, ECOs, and Protos. Click a model name or the View button to open its detail view.
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Model Name | The name of the product model. Links to the Model Detail view. |
| Top Level PN | The top-level assembly part number associated with this model. Links to the part in Part View. |
| Part Name | The name of the top-level part, pulled automatically from the parts library. |
| For Sale | Indicates whether the top-level part is marked for sale. Determined by the part's For Sale flag. |
| ECRs | The number of ECRs tagged with this model name. |
| ECOs | The number of ECOs tagged with this model name. |
| Protos | The number of prototype requests (EPRs) tagged with this model name. |
| View | Opens the Model Detail view. |
| Edit | Opens the inline edit form for this model. Editors only. |
The Top Level PN must exist in your parts library. If the part number is not found, the model will save without a linked part and the Part Name and For Sale columns will show a dash.
Click the Edit button on any row (Editors only) to load that model into the form at the bottom of the table. The lock button automatically switches to unlocked. Update the Model Name or Top Level PN and click ✓ Save Changes. To remove a model entirely, click ✗ Delete in the edit form.
Click a model name or the View button to open the Model Detail view. The top bar shows the model name and a back link to return to the Models list.
The detail view displays the top-level part information at the top, followed by tabbed sections listing all engineering records associated with this model.
If a Top Level PN is assigned, the detail view shows the part number, name, current revision, status, and a link to open it in Part View.
Lists all Engineering Change Requests whose Model(s) field includes this model name. Each row shows the ECR number, title, priority, assigned user, and status. Click an ECR number to open its detail view.
Lists all Engineering Change Orders whose Model(s) field includes this model name. Each row shows the ECO number, title, and release status. Click an ECO number to open it in the ECN view.
Lists all Engineering Prototype Requests tagged with this model name. Each row shows the EPR number, title, assigned user, and status. Click an EPR number to open its detail view.
