Settings Reference

Setting Description
Starting PN The minimum numeric part number allowed when creating new parts. If set to 1000, part numbers below 1000 will not be accepted. Leave blank to allow any numeric PN.

This setting helps enforce a consistent part numbering scheme across your workspace.
ECN Email An email address that receives a notification whenever an ECO (Engineering Change Order) is released and an ECN (Engineering Change Notice) is issued. Useful for notifying a distribution list or document control team.

Example: [email protected]
BOM Changes Require ECO When enabled, users cannot make changes to a released BOM without an active ECO. This enforces a formal change control process — all BOM edits must go through the ECO workflow before they are applied.

When disabled, editors can modify BOMs directly without an ECO.
Require ECO to Change Part Revision When enabled, the Revision field on a part becomes read-only once the part has been formally released (i.e., its revision is a letter such as A, B, etc.). The revision can only be advanced by releasing an ECO.

Parts that are still at revision - (unreleased / in development) are not affected — their revision can still be set freely.

This setting is only available on subscription plans that include the ECO feature. When disabled, editors can change a part's revision at any time without going through an ECO.

Typical workflow with this setting enabled:
  1. Create a new part — revision starts at -.
  2. Create an ECO, add the part, and release the ECO — revision advances to A.
  3. For all future changes, open a new ECO to advance the revision to B, C, etc.
Default Padding for New PN Sets the minimum digit width used when auto-generating new part numbers. New PNs are zero-padded to this many digits.

For example, with padding set to 5, the next available PN after 42 would be generated as 00042 rather than 42. Leave blank (or set to 0) to disable padding and generate PNs without leading zeros.

This setting only affects auto-generated PNs from the Next PN suggestion feature. It does not rename or reformat existing part numbers.

Changes to General Settings take effect immediately for all users in the workspace.
