Conductr Overview
A basic introduction to what Conductr is and what it's used for
What is Conductr?
Conductr is a cloud-based tool for creating electrical schematics and wiring diagrams for machines,
equipment, and appliances. It works like a schematic capture tool — similar to what electrical
engineers use for circuit boards — but built specifically for wire harnesses and panel wiring
instead of PCBs.
Everything you place on a schematic — symbols, wires, cables, and terminals — is tied to a real
part number, so your parts list, wire schedule, and wire cut list are generated directly from the
drawing instead of being built by hand.
🏠 The Home Tab
The Home tab is what you land on when you open Conductr, and gives you one-click access to the
most common starting points:
- New Schematic / Open Schematic — start a new drawing or open an existing one
- New Symbol / Symbol Library — create a new library symbol or browse existing ones
- Schematic Index — jump to the Search tab, which lists every schematic and nailboard in your workspace
- Wire Library — browse and manage your reusable wire, cable, and terminal specs
- New Title Block / Title Block Library — create a new title block layout or browse existing ones
The Home tab also keeps a running list of your recently opened schematics and symbols, so you can
jump straight back into what you were last working on.
⚡ Schematic Design
Draw smart electrical schematics directly in the browser using a full
symbol toolset. Reusable component libraries mean your team never has to redraw the same
symbol twice:
- Custom Library Symbols — use the built-in Symbol Editor to create your own reusable component symbols (with terminals/pins), then place them on any drawing across your workspace
- Wire Library — maintain reusable wire specs (gauge, color, insulation) for consistent drawings
- Cable Library — define multi-conductor cable specs once and reuse across projects
- Terminal Library — standardize terminal and connector part numbers across your drawings
- Title Block Library — build reusable title block layouts and drop them onto schematics and nailboards, auto-filled from the drawing's document properties
- Automatic Wire Coloring — wires color themselves by net or spec, so connections are easy to trace at a glance
🔌 Wire Harness Manufacturing
Once a schematic is drawn, Conductr helps take it from design to the build floor:
- Nailboard Harness Layouts — lay out wire harnesses for the build floor directly from your schematic connections
- Wire Cut Lists — generate cut-to-length wire lists ready for production, straight from the nailboard layout
🔗 SavantPLM Integration
Conductr can link directly to SavantPLM so your drawings stay in sync with your part data
instead of duplicating it by hand:
- Symbols, wires, cables, terminals, and title blocks can each be tied to a real SavantPLM part number and marked to retrieve info from SavantPLM — name, vendor, and manufacturer data pull in automatically instead of being typed twice
- A Refresh All action re-syncs every linked symbol, wire, cable, and terminal on a drawing against the latest data in SavantPLM with one click
- Because placed symbols and library entries carry their PLM link with them, a part number update in SavantPLM flows through to every schematic and nailboard that references it
🔒 Role-Based Access
Access applies across both schematics and nailboards: Editors can design and edit drawings and
harness layouts, while Viewers get read-only access to the same schematics and nailboards.
